When you hear via twitter how workers at an unnamed large corporation in my home town are bitching about their office network being slow…
And you remember how this unnamed large corproate entity was part of the resistance to Philadelphia having their own public wireless network…
To think, if your network went down in your office, you could just walk a few blocks to the park, or… a coffee shop… or anywhere if your city has a well build wireless network not tied up in interference from corporations who are trying to monopolize internet access.

In short.
The City of Philadelphia is 2nd on the list of what cities are asking for the most money from the Federal Govt.
The 2nd line item on our list of things we want to spend that money on is $125 Million for Casino development.
This is at the same time that the City of Philadelphia is trying to cut funding and close 11 city public libraries… In an effort to save money in the economic downturn.
With as much effort as they’ve put in to rezoning the Market Street Gallery Mall to make it able to have a casino, and how little effort they’ve put in to saving the libraries *AND* are now asking for that much money to place a casino in the center of the city…
Mayor Nutter will not get my vote when he’s up for reelection.
Watching things like this make me even more angry at the religious dogma that strangles our scientific advancement… Imagine if we had had an additional 8 years of Stem Cell Research behind us at this point. And not 8 years of ignorant positions driven by ignorant people.
and not to sound too callus, but wouldn’t that all fall under the category of “Bio-Tech”? Isn’t that an industry that has been taughted to potentially make up a big chunk of our economy? (or I guess our future ‘hopeful’ economy at this point…)
I’ve spent the last two weeks screaming I think.
Watching the financial collapse take form.
Trying very hard to ignore the news.
I’m a angry liberal, so read the rest of this with that in mind.
I’m non-apologetic. Though I am willing to listen to what people have to say. So as I post here to night, please feel free to contribute to the comments, and put your say in.
We’re 10 minutes out from the debate, and I’m dealing with the talking Heads.
So, here’s some other information.
In the last few days there has been some amazing news coming out about the economy. Really truly deep analysis on whats going on.
Here. Take the time and read and listen to these things.
CHUCK TODD: Mike Murphy, lots of free advice, we’ll see if Steve Schmidt and the boys were watching. We’ll find out on your blackberry. Tonight voters will get their chance to hear from Sarah Palin and she will get the chance to show voters she’s the right woman for the job Up next, one man who’s already convinced and he’ll us why Gov. Jon Huntsman.
(cut away)
PEGGY NOONAN: Yeah.
MIKE MURPHY: You know, because I come out of the blue swing state governor world: Engler, Whitman, Tommy Thompson, Mitt Romney, Jeb Bush. I mean, these guys — this is how you win a Texas race, just run it up. And it’s not gonna work. And –
PEGGY NOONAN: It’s over.
MIKE MURPHY: Still McCain can give a version of the Lieberman speech to do himself some good.
CHUCK TODD: I also think the Palin pick is insulting to Kay Bailey Hutchinson, too.
PEGGY NOONAN: Saw Kay this morning.
CHUCK TODD: Yeah, she’s never looked comfortable about this –
MIKE MURPHY: They’re all bummed out.
CHUCK TODD: Yeah, I mean is she really the most qualified woman they could have turned to?
PEGGY NOONAN: The most qualified? No! I think they went for this — excuse me– political bullshit about narratives –
CHUCK TODD: Yeah they went to a narrative.
MIKE MURPHY: I totally agree.
PEGGY NOONAN: Every time the Republicans do that, because that’s not where they live and it’s not what they’re good at, they blow it.
MIKE MURPHY: You know what’s really the worst thing about it? The greatness of McCain is no cynicism, and this is cynical.
CHUCK TODD: This is cynical, and as you called it, gimmicky.
