She busted out.
At 515pm my mother was released from the DHS/INS holding cell here in philadelphia, she’s currently sitting across the table from me talking to her mother on my phone.
There are certain stipulations she has to adhere to, to keep her out of jail until her court date in November, such as making a phone call each day at a certain time, but the good news is that she’s not in jail.
We have one more hurdle to cross though.
In November she has to go to court to fight a deportation effort the government is pressing.
So, while she’s not in jail, she might not be allowed to stay in the country in the end. Deportation cases can last years, so its a long fight ahead of us.
I’m going to find more out about the specific laws that are in play here, and see what they really say, and what they really mean.
More as it comes along.
