300 miles in to owning the new bike, the clutch has started to fail. I’m a little angry at the previous owner, cause I’m sure he was aware of it… but, what can you do… riding 100 miles from his house, and another 200 miles since then, I didn’t seem to notice any failings in the acceleration of gear shifting. It was only thursday night that I started to have problems. Shifting out of first and accelerating in 2nd gear resulted in only a powerful increase in the tachometer, with virtually NO acceleration, or perhaps 20 MPH faster in 4 seconds… not a good situation to be in. It is behaving the same way in other gear / shift points, and is flat out dangerous to ride when you’re unable to merge with traffic. (at least 2 scary moments were had when I was trying to get the bike home off of I76)
$60/hour labor, possibly $200 in parts… a good $500 to repair the bike… Not the end of the world, I just wish the thing would have lasted another 2-3 months before I had to sink money in to it at the end of the season.
maybe I need to put up a paypal link for the 4 of you who read this, can help the “motorcycle fund”…
